About

free tbi treatmentWelcome to my TBI Treatment website. My name is Nolan Thomas McDonnell, and I’m a survivor of traumatic brain injury – something that ignited my mission towards inspiring those who want more out of life, despite their circumstances.  One thing that I learned from my injury is that despite having a TBI  CAN STILL live an unimaginable life by your own design,  here is proof of that:

free tbi treatmentOn the 23rd of April, 2017, I was shot in the head. Five 16-year-olds surrounded my vehicle and opened fire to break the windows and rob me. Once they could get to me, the gunman on my drivers’ side noticed I was still alive and shot me point-blank in the head. The bullet entered the left side of my head and projected out the right side of my skull. When I woke up from the coma, I was paralyzed from the neck down.

tbi nutrentsNot being able to move and not comprehending the situation, I was told by doctors that I had a traumatic brain injury and that this was how I was going to be for the rest of my life – paralyzed and helpless. I immediately rejected this idea, and I was determined to make a full recovery. Doctors told me I would never walk again. I pushed myself further and further each day to live life on my own terms and to prove the doctors wrong. Today, I can proudly say that the doctors WERE wrong.  With that said, nobody plans for a traumatic brain injury, and unfortunately, it doesn’t come with an instruction manual or handbook, either. Traumatic brain injury can happen to anyone at any time, there is no predicting it.

free tbi treatmentThat’s why I created tbitreatment.org – as a place to document all of my experiences and treatments that have worked for me in my recovery in the hops that my TBI recovery can help someone else in need. It’s a place where people can learn about the TBI journey of other survivors and can feel inspired to never give up on their recovery. It’s also a place to inspire caregivers to never give up on their loved ones or let their survivor give up, either – because it’s important to remember that it’s not only hard for us but also very challenging for the people around helping you, too.

free tbi treatmentI created tbitreatment.org also as a valuable resource to others with first-hand knowledge shared by me, a TBI survivor. By sharing my discoveries in Traumatic Brain Injury recovery treatments, I hope people can feel empowered to make a full recovery, despite the struggles and challenges along the way. My beliefs are to exemplify the person you want to become, and when adversity strikes, it doesn’t matter what happens, but it’s how you use your negative experience to make a positive impact that counts.  Since traumatic brain injury changed my life forever, I have dedicated my life to researching strategies to overcoming brain injury, different treatment methods, and communicating my healing process to motivate and inform other individuals with a traumatic brain injury who are on the same path of life that I am.

GOALS

IMG_8514My goals in life, besides helping TBI victims make a full recovery, are to create a non-profit organization that is valuable for the growth and improvement of the lives that have been afflicted by traumatic brain injury. My goals are to give hope to the hopeless, to inform the public about TBI, and to raise social awareness of the matter. As a matter of fact, I didn’t even know what traumatic brain injury was until it happened to me.  With that said, I want to become a public speaker and start a brain injury foundation to help other brain injury survivors. Not only in assisting them in making a recovery but also to make sure they understand that they can still reach their full potential.

CORE VALUES

IMG_6571My core values revolve around taking the opportunity of every day to be better than I was the day before and never to give up. I view challenges as stepping stones for improvement, and I believe that people should give back to society more than they take. I believe people should create opportunities that they want for themselves. Above all, I believe in kindness, love, peace, and happiness.  With that said, I hold strongly to my core values of paying it forward and giving it back. I treat others the way I would want to be treated, something I believe is never implemented enough throughout life.

VISION

tbi treatmentMy vision is to continue improving and researching TBI treatments. My vision is to document my growth after traumatic brain injury and to share my recovery with the public. Making this public is my future vision of making people more aware of traumatic brain injury through various public speeches on gun violence, which is how I got a traumatic brain injury myself. I learned that there are many other survivors who got it the exact same way, and this is something that can be prevented if people are more informed. Ultimately, I want to grow my non-profit by making the public aware of something that isn’t talked about enough.
